Sponsorship
What can you do with 60 pence?
(or about 95 US cents, or 58 £ (70 Euro) cents)
… Buy a large chocolate bar?
… Get a cheap newspaper?
… Buy a small soft drink?
or …
Spend a few minutes talking on a mobile?
If you live in the UK or most of the western world, the answer is NOT MUCH!
Most of us probably spend more than that most days without thinking much about it, or later even remember what we bought!
But 60 pence a day could change a child’s life!
In many parts of the world, just 60 pence a day could:
- Provide a school uniform,
- Accommodation,
- Textbooks,
- Meals,
- A good basic education ….
Just 60 pence a day can make all the difference to some child TODAY.
The truth is, the vast majority of us in the west probably wouldn’t even miss 60 pence a day! Not convinced? Then try a little experiment:
Take the Gift Box Challenge!
- Get a small empty box (or jar);
…… - Write on it: “I’m Making a Difference Today!”;
…… - Put it in the kitchen, by the front door, on the sideboard where you leave your keys, or some other place in the house you pass every day;
…… - Every day, when you come in from work or school (or just pass the box), drop in your loose change, or at least the equivalent of 60 pence in your own currency;
…… - At the end of one month, before you count the money, ask yourself;
“By not having this money available to spend, was there any real change to my lifestyle?”
Answer yourself honestly.
…… - If your answer is: “NO, it made no real difference to my lifestyle.”
Then consider giving this money (and the same each month) to the Mainstream Sponsorship Programme.
…… - If your honest answer is: “YES, it was a sacrifice not to have this money available to me.”
Then take the money and go spend it on food or rent or some other necessity – and be blessed.
……
If you have put in at least 60 pence a day (or the equivalent in your own currency), then at the end of the month you would have about £18 (or the equivalent) – enough to provide for one child’s education needs for a whole month. Think about it.
Mainstream Sponsorship Programme
We are currently working on a new structure to more efficiently channel your support, gifts and donations directly to where they are needed most. Part of this will include the Mainstream Sponsorship Programme. This new programme is being set up in response to requests from our regional ministries to help expand the work that they do in social welfare, church and evangelistic work within their communities.
If you might have an interest in becoming of Sponsor, committing to providing a fixed amount of support each month in any of the following areas, please CONTACT US. More information will be coming soon, so by registering your interest, we can make sure that you receive just what you need, as well as answer any of your questions.
* Sponsor a Child’s Education.
Already mentioned above, just £18 a month will provide all a child needs for their education in a government accredited school.
* Sponsor a Pastor or Evangelist.
In many areas that we work, the communities are too poor to be able to support a fulltime pastor, yet the need for one is great. Also, in rural areas in Pakistan and India especially, Evangelists and church planters go out into areas that often have never heard the Gospel and work sacrificially within those villages and regions. They have no means of providing for their needs than from kind supporters like you. The costs are low compared to sending a foreign missionary into these areas, and the local ministers have an additional advantage of knowing the language, customs and people.
* Sponsor a Radio Broadcast.
Already we reach many, many listeners through our Tubariki radio broadcasts into the DR Congo and Kenya. Lives are touched and changed by these broadcasts. There are openings to broadcast on many more stations, but funding is needed. For example, a radio station with coverage extending through Eastern DR Congo and parts of Uganda will typically charge about £6 (£6.40 ($10)) per 30 minute programme, and these will be aired daily, potentially reaching millions of listeners.
… or sponsor all or part of a shorter term project, such as:
- a Bible school student in a rural area;
- a Bible distribution programme;
- a Community welfare project (often used as outreach programmes as well);
- a Micro-Enterprise, such as a tailoring business, bee-keeping, fishing pond, and other low cost projects to help generate income for a community or Christian worker.
Your help DOES MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE to people’s lives. Please Please Contact Us if you have an interest in becoming a sponsor, and we will send you the relevant information as we bring these projects online.
